Ponte Vecchio - Espressomaschinen Manufaktur

Die kleine Manufaktur im Norden Italiens produziert seit 1999 Handhebelmaschinen für den Haushaltsbereich. Doch entgegen dem Trend nach immer neuen Modellen und Modifikationen, konzentriert sich Ponte Vecchio lediglich auf zwei Modelle, die seit vielen Jahren fast unverändert sind und darüber hinaus sogar mit der klassischen, altbewährten Handhebeltechnik (mit Feder für gleichmässigen Druckaufbau) auskommen.

Zurecht kann man sagen, dass dieses Preinfusions Kolbensytem, welches bereits 1938 von Achille Gaggia entwickelt wurde, geschmacklich schwer zu übertreffen ist. Wenn man zusätzlich die einfache Handhabung, sowie die lange Haltbarkeit dieser schlichten und wirkungsvollen Technik betrachtet, so ist das Konzept mehr als verständlich - insbesondere, wenn man sich anschaut, dass alle mechanischen Teile in der hauseigenen Werkstatt selbst hergestellt werden - vom Siebträger, über die schwere Brühgruppe aus Messing, bis hin zum Gehäuse, das mit seiner zeitlosen, schlichten Industrieform daherkommt. Eine Ästhetik, die unter den Haushaltsespressomaschinen neuerer Bauart leider nicht mehr zu finden ist.

Alles in allem beschreitet Ponte Vecchio hier einen Weg, abseits des Mainstream - optisch als auch technisch - was die kleinen italienischen Espressomaschinen zum echten Geheimtipp macht, nicht nur unter den designorientierten Espressofans weltweit.

Since 1999 spring piston lever machines for home use are produced by the small manufactory in Northern Italy. But contrary to the prevailing trend of new models and modifications, Ponte Vecchio focuses merely on two models which almost remained unchanged throughout the last years. Instead they still get on with the well-tried manual lever method (with the use of a spring you are able to get a repeatable pressure from one shot to another).

Quite rightly one can say that this pre-infusion piston lever system, developed by Achille Gaggia in 1938, is hardly to be surpassed in terms of taste. Additionally one has to consider the easy operation, as well as the long durability of this technique which is simple and effective. Thus the concept is more than understandable - especially due to the fact that every mechanical component is produced in their own workshop - from portafilter, heavy brass made brew head to the steel body with its ageless and simple industrial design. An esthetic sense which today is nowhere to be found anymore among the actual range of home espresso machines. 

Taking all the things into consideration, Ponte Vecchio uses a way far from the general mainstream - optical same as technical - therefore the Italian espresso machines are an insider tip, not only among the design-orientated espresso fans.
